At the Southwest symposium I met another club member and we got to talking about places we haven't paddled, and would like to.  Big Bear Lake was the topic of our discussion.  

You might have seen an email come through from North Shore Trading Company regarding their "First Annual Big Bear Lake Paddlefest"

The club member I spoke to said this about North Shore......
Saw the email for a weekend up in Big Bear in July.  I spoke with the folks at North Shore Trading and it sounds like a good time.  They did say that at the present time there is no ban on outside boats, which is good.  They also said that if anyone is interested in spending the weekend up there camping, reservations should be made soon as the Serrano Campground will fill up fast as summer approaches.  The weekend is July 12-13 with water in the 60's and air in the 70's-80's.  Apparently all the little campgrounds along the lake have closed or been developed, so no camping on the water.  Serrano Campground is across the street from the lake which I guess is the next best thing.
