Except the sand will wear down the paddle where the 2 halves connect and eventually rectify any problems with the 2 halves staying together.

Mike,

As has been said, soak it in warm water to dissolve the salt. Then using a twisting motion only, try to get the two haves to start turning. Once that happens, twist back and forth while gently trying to separate them.

I wouldn't put anything on the two halves other than fresh water. Any kind of oil or lube will attract sand. Just ALWAYS rinse the paddle with fresh water as soon as you are finished with it.

Good luck,

Steve

I used my composite "Swift" paddle this weekend, and the two halves are now solidly stuck together. This happened the last time I used it also. I'm sure I'll get it apart with the help of a couple strong associates, but I would appreciate any advice on how to prevent it getting stuck again? I've read about this problem several times, but I don't recall what was recommended. Thanks for any help. Mike Kory
