Mark,
It was great paddling with you and the rest of the gang yesterday. It was a very rewarding day in so many ways.
After I submitted my report there were a few things that I realized I had overlooked.
1) Carol Aldrich deserved a big compliment because she pushed herself really hard in order to keep from slowing us down. And she did it!
2) I think we should have taken better care of Duane. In spite of his great abilities, there is a chance that he might be human. We would never forgive ourselves if his headache had turned into something more serious.
3) Regarding to the trouser snake exhibitors, I try to avoid topics that might offend children or scare horses. Besides, who knows if one of those perverts subscribes to our mail list and might have been insulted at being downgraded to the status of worm walker ;-)
Hope to paddle with you again soon,
Patrick

Patrick,
I think your report captured it all. Just my luck, I missed all of Mike's carnage, although I got a couple pics of your excellent rescue!
You didn't mention the one beach that must have been designated for pets, because there were a couple people walking their dogs and quite a few men walking their trouser snakes! They seemed so proud of their pets!!

The group that assembled included Mike Bode, Duane Strosaker (who had posted the invitation for this trip), Mark Sanders, Dave O'Connor, Scott (who's last name eludes me, sorry Scott), and Win and Carol Aldrich. Duane, Mark and Dave had spent the night sleeping in their cars in the Channel Islands Harbor parking lot in Oxnard. At this time of year it is impossible to get a camp site at Refugio, El Capitan, or Gaviota since all the reservations were sold out months ago. These guys are a hearty bunch and were in remarkably good spirits in spite of their less than ideal camping accommodations.
