Having just spoken to Brett Tanner, and discussing Logistics regarding San
Onofre, we have decided to paddle Dana Point to Oceanside this Coming
Saturday, August 2. The current plan is for San Diego Paddlers to meet at
Oceanside Harbor Boat Ramp at 7:00am to transfer boats to Dana Point for an
8:30 launch. Northern Paddlers might be able to join us at Mother's Beach
and hitch a ride back from Oceanside with vehicles left there.
This will be approximately 21 NMiles without any planned surf landings. As
is usual, everyone is expected to be responsible for their own safety;
Period (except for shuttles of course).
If you are interested in joining us for this seldom paddled stretch of
coast, please Email me as logistics may change due to the number of folks
interested and their additional kayak shuttle capacity. I plan to send out
a final Email Friday. Also let me know if you are able to help with
shuttling boats beyond your own.
Also, Aqua-Adventures is planning a Flotilla of Support for them the
Following weekend (August 9) with a reception at the shop featuring the
music of Steve Wilson.
Hope you can join us,
Dennis Hyndman

Subject: [CKF Info] Rogue Otters
It was my pleasure to house a couple Rogue Otters who washed up on shore at
the Newport Coast Guard beach yesterday.
Jerry Sparks and Brett Tanner are the kind of people you feel you can call
friends after one night of gabbing around the kitchen table. The adventure
they embarked on in honor of their friend and to support the Vasculitis
Foundation is inspiring.
I think it's easy for those of us who've read the stories of other great
expeditions to take for granted one new trip, but when you hear the stories
first person, you realize cheating death is cheating death whether someone
has passed by that piece of coast before or not! It is even more impressive
that Jerry and Brett were mostly just recreational kayakers before deciding
to plan this trip in honor of their friend.
I wish them good paddling on the completion of their journey.
Mark
