Paula-
Many thanks to you and Paul for getting it done. The davit will reduce back
strain on us Tilley wearers. Now all we need is help for the stairs.

I have been impressed with the Anacapa landing and launching capabilities of
fellow CKF'rs. I have used four cam straps to hoist kayaks (one around the
bow and stern, one to loop them together, and one to hook the third to the
davit). Although it works, it is primitive compared to other designs. I
would be interested in hearing the details of other's launch/land hardware.
Lee can describe how to dive and retrieve lost systems.

Anyone who has yet to do the crossing from CIH, negotiating the landing
platform, and circumnavigating the island is in for a great experience.
Humping gear up the 170 or so steps to the campground is part of the
experience. As are the great views from the campground, negotiating the
shipping channel, and fending off the many rodents.

Subject: davit on Anacapa

Hi everyone

Awhile back Jon Brindle emailed me and asked if the davit on Anacapa ever
got fixed.

After sending an email to my contact with the Park, and many emails later we
found out that Dave Stoltz, who is the Channel Islands National Park Pacific
West Region Dive Officer, fixed the davit in May. Funding for this came
through the Park also.

I would like to thank Jon for his concern for all who use this davit and
instigating it's repair and the Park for taking action so that kayakers can
land and launch more safely at the Landing Cove at Anacapa!

Awesome job everyone!
Paula
