Mike BodeDo you all know that there is a metered parking lot at the bottom of Junipero, below Ocean Blvd? It isn't a long beach trek to the water and there is little if any surf and for this trip would have been about the same distance, maybe even about a 1/4 mile shorter. There is always parking there and the meters are about $1.00.hr.

That's why we did it the way we did it. We weren't relishing paddling into that famous wind on the homeward leg. By the way, in the course of preparing for this trip, we learned that that little dock next the restaurant at Shoreline Village can not be used to launch and land, only to tie up (like we did for Mike Brown's birthday paddle a couple of years ago). The only other legal options, as far as I could find out, are the beach (a looooong carry to the water) and the Southshore launch ramp.

PS...Glad to know/be reminded of the launch possibility at downtown Long Beach. Very nice to have the afternoon wind at your back instead of starting and ending at Cabrillo. Especially ending...when you are just about of Gooey the the headwind can be terrific there. No doubt why the wind surfers like it there. =)
