[CKF Info] CIH - Island Play

Peter O'Sullivan, Paul Jonason, and I launched at 9 am from Hobie Beach for
a day of play. All week long the forecast had been calling for wind and
large swells so we were hoping for challenging conditions. When we arrived
it was as calm and flat as it gets. Just another nice warm sunny day in
California! :)
 
We spent a half hour or so rolling before heading out to the Pond to see if
there was any crazy water there. Instead we found an island where there is
usually a submerged sand bar. It was a minus tide this morning and so we
paddled the shallow current-swirled channel between the temporary island and
the steep shore. For a while we played in the surf, landed, and played some
more. 
 
We saw Kevin Harris and stopped to say hello, then headed out to sea where
the water was crystal clear. Eventually we made our way back to the harbor,
landed at 12:30, and headed for Daddio's. 
 
Peter and I tried to take some movies on the water. We'll see if any of them
turn out.
