See you guys on the 29th. I'm currently in NY at my brother Capt. Mike's,
headed for his week's sailing course this week. Went with him, my dazzling 13
year old twin nieces and some club members to the Clearwater Expo (sort of a
post-Love Generation Woodstock) in Croton-On-Hudson, NY and saw some icons
of the 60's, such as Pete Seeger.

The real highlight was paddling with the Yonkers Canoe Club, that had a
booth there and offered on-the water paddling opptys for all comers. They were
loaning out SOT's, but were persuaded to lend me a nice Current Designs sea
kayak and ended up drafting me for picket duty to keep people from getting
washed down the river to NYC. I spent some time in the cool Hudson River
breezes while the madding crowd sweltered on the shore and got propagandized. Also
rowed dories and explored the tall ship "Clearwater." There were homeboyz
from the Bronx and other nearby localities demonstrating extreme proficiency
in wood boat, canoe and kayak-building.

Will be paddling at Fire Island, NY, in between sailing lessons, to help
maintain my proficiency in a futile attempt to match Jack Brisley, Eskimo Lee
Shurie and "Hullcracker" Wilson. Hope that some more of you CKF'ers will join
us. I'll be offline because there's no Internet at the Appalachin Club sea
lodge where we'll be staying-- one of the charms of the place.

Regards,
George Miller

Steve, thanks much, and it is going to be a gas. It was last time and will
be more so this time, cause you’ll be able to join us! While I’m at it here, I
’ll remind anyone thinking of coming to drop any of us an email. “Any of us”
would be George, Steve, Lee or myself. If the swell is large we’ll still
paddle but might move to a more protected launch spot close by, so let us know
if you’re coming. See you guys next weekend. Anyone else interested drop a
line if you aren’t sure. Can’t do much about THE HILL, but we could be quite
accommodating on the helping with the launch and guidance on the route if
required.

Kayakers,

Paddling with Jack is always exciting. He knows what he's doing in the rocks
and surf. I always learn something every time I paddle with him. If you
don't mind the hill climb and a rocky launch into the open sea it's going to be
a gas.

Details at the CKF web site.

Rock On

Steve (last I heard anyway) Wilson
