Hi Lee,

Please forward this to your daughter. I was so impressed with
Kirstie's skills. Wow!!!!
Since I too am working on new skills I wanted to let her know how
excited I am for her!!!

Hi Kirstie,
Congratulations on your skills at Sunday's paddle. You looked so
calm & relaxed!!!

I still don't know how you did that brace without going over with no
paddle float!! Good for you.
I was impressed when I saw you in the "soup." This is a very
challenging spot for me!!!
And ...... you did a roll too!!! Wow!!!!

You had 2 great instructors out there with you, which I am sure you
appreciated! I know I sure am thankful for help & assistance.
This is a lot of fun. I hope I get to practice with you someday.
Sincerely,
Bev

Peter O'Sullivan, my daughter Kirstie, and I launched at 9 AM Sunday
from Hobie Beach at Channel Islands Harbor. After a Saturday which
reached 112 degrees at home, the cool ocean breeze felt great and the
water felt even better!

We launched into a light breeze and headed out past the east end of
the CIH breakwater. From there we headed into the westerly breeze and
the incoming swells. Peter and I like it out there when it gets
blustery. Although the conditions today were moderate, it was fun to
have some wind and water in our faces. More than once we caught
Kirstie with a smile as she crested another wave. Later she told me
she likes it much better out there than in the flat water.

Eventually we headed for the Pond where the sand bar was exposed -
like a small island. Kirstie was at first hesitant to enter the
churned up "crazy water" but after watching Peter for a while she
followed me in. Soon she was grinning from ear to ear as the waves
hit her from all directions and tried - but didn't succeed - at
knocking her over.

After a while we got hungry and headed for the harbor. At Hobie Beach
Kirstie worked on skills and was soon doing the static brace like a
pro. She was even able to recover to the back deck without
assistance. Later Peter helped her with the paddle float roll which
she did successfully several times. We left it at that.

Daddio's for lunch.

Thanks Peter for your patience and your help!

Best,
Lee

P.S. Here are photos taken by Peter. The last 7 show Kirstie doing
the static brace.
