Life is not meant to be a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty
and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, parts totally worn out
or replaced, and loudly proclaiming -
WOW- WHAT A RIDE!!

Jay,
I don't have all the SDKC members in a convenient address group file. Do you s'pose you might forward the following bit of information I got from the Coast Guard website.

Kayak Paddle Safety Defect
Carlisle has identified a potential safety issue with some Magic Poly and Magic Plus kayak paddles manufactured between October 2007 and April 2008. Affected “Magic Poly”, and “Magic Plus” paddles may break at the base of the blade due to a defect in workmanship. Carlisle Paddle Gear will replace defective paddles at no cost to you. For details on how to determine if your paddle is affected, and instructions regarding replacement of defective paddles, refer to the “Important Safety Notice” found in the lower right hand corner of their website homepage at www.carlislepaddles.com, or telephone (800) 343-1555.
