Like Neil, I enjoyed Duane's article in Sea Kayaker. When I saw the cover
of the latest issue, it said something about kayaking in Catalina. I was
very indignant and thought, "Who is writing about OUR Channel Islands???" Then,
I remembered that it was Duane. I can't think of anyone who knows Catalina
better. Great job, Duane.

And, Neil, if really want to see what Duane can do with a kayak take a look
at the photo Mark Sanders took of Duane at Cabrillo Beach. It was in Sea
Kayaker magazine last year! I couldn't find a link to it, so someone else will
have to send it to you.

Hi all,

Well my new Sea Kayaker magazine came today, (2 months is a long time
between issues!) And as I came back from the mailbox with it I noticed on the cover
an article about Catalina Island. Cool, I thought, I'll have to check that
out, after I read the safety article to see what kind of deep trouble people
got into lately. :-)

So as I got to page 31, I was thrilled to see by the byline it was our own
Duane Stosaker that penned this piece. And what a poetic opening in those
first 2 paragraphs!

I'm new to the club and know nobody yet, but I did get to witness Duane's
didgeridoo stylings and mini stand-up routine 'round the campfire at this
year's Southwest Kayak Symposium, so it should be no surprise that he's a skilled
journalist, too. Thanks Duane for an enjoyable and informative read!

I look forward to being able to find a chance to meet up with you all at an
appropriate paddle for my newbie skill level.

Cheers,

Neil Schneiderhan
