Billy
I will be doing a similar thing for them in San Diego. They will be staying
with me a few nights between Oceanside and La Jolla.
I am also interested in Paddling with them from Dana Point to Oceanside as I
am missing that stretch to complete the coast from Newport Beach to South of
the Border.
They indicated that they have very little support after Newport, so I was
going to try to organize a group for that stretch to provide company and
shuttle support.
I will also be coordinating with SDKC, but will wait as dates get closer.
Right now it looks like late July.
I would encourage everyone to make a personal donation to their specified
benefit. I am looking for paddle and shuttle support for them.
Let me know if you are interested in paddling Camp Pendleton and I will keep
you posted.
Dennis

Subject: Re: [CKF Info] Giving back.
All,
I think you all received the email from the "Rogue Otters" who are paddling
from San Francisco to San Diego as a benefit to their friend who recently
passed away from a horrible blood disease. (I lost the original email so I
can't give you the name of the disease right now.) They are looking for help
along the way and having been one who went though a tough battle of my own I
understand the importance of giving back and helping out those in need.
In response my wife and I are giving them shelter in our home for a night
with a nice meal from our BBQ and a couple bucks for the fund. I am
wondering if we could all pitch in, only if you want to, to help out. I have
volunteered to help them and thought that if any one wanted to donate some
spare change you could send it to me and I will surprise them on CKF's
behalf or on your own personal behalf's. I can work with them re: receipts
etc. if you like.I just want to help.
Naturally I hope I hope am not imposing and if there are any legal
ramifications to this I don't want to know, I just want to help. Any input
would be great.
Thanks,
Billy
p.s. Thanks to Lee and Steve for allowing me to post this.

Below is my response tot their original request.
Paddle on you Crazy Otters!
Billy and Nici Kroll here. We live in El Segundo which you will pass on your
way to San Diego and we would really like to help you guys out!
I paddle out of Marina Del Rey (member of CKF) where I keep my kayak and was
thinking, if the timing is right, I could meet you guys there, you could
store your yaks for the night and we'll fix up a good BBQ at our place,
we're buying, get you rested (you could use our living room floor if you
want, not enough room in the bed) and we'll ship you off the next morning. I
have tools and tons of duct tape for repairs so if your interested let us
know.
Our home phone is 310-333-0612, work is 310-252-2729 and cell is
310-283-8944. Email is pacificcoastkayaker at gmail.com.
You will of course have to agree to ride in my '82 Mercedes that I run on
vegetable oil. We're green people.
Let us know you Crazy Otters!!!
Nici and Billy
p.s. I am a pro photographer so be ready to smile!!! Oh and that's not me in
the glider.
