[CKF Info] Harbor Paddle Trip Report

Paula Chavez, Paul Jonason, Bev Waldren, Chris Wood, Lee Shurie and son Ryan
joined Robin and I for a leisurely harbor paddle in Channel Islands Harbor
today. As we started out, we were met by a young woman named Kim who joined
us on her 2o foot by 19 inch surf ski. However, our leisurely pace was a bit
too slow for her and she soon left. 

 

We then paddled over to George and Carol Miller's house. I knew Carol was
off hiking today, but I was sure George would invite us in for bagels and
lox. Wrong!! We didn't even get invited in for coffee and donuts. George
must have been pretending not to be home because we didn't see any sign of
him. We didn't go and knock because we didn't want to wake Marie, George's
mom up.

 

We then paddled off looking at all of the houses - especially the ones that
are for sale. Soon Paul, Lee, and Ryan decided that we were going to slow
for them and they left saying they'd meet us at Daddy-O's. Wrong again, Lee
was already leaving when we showed up.

 

Bev used a GP for the first time today and managed to do quite well with it.
I loaned her a spare of mine to use for a while until she decides to get a
GP or a new Euro paddle.

 

The highlight of the day was seeing three night herons sitting on top of a
house.

 

All in all it was a good time with some good friends on the water. Plus it
was nice to have my wife back out with me since she hasn't paddled since
September when we were in BC, Canada.
