Steve H.,
I'm happy to hear your son is coming home safely!
I also had a wonderful Memorial Day, which made up for the canceled Catalina kayak trip this weekend. I was able to drive down and visit my nephew, who just finished infantry school at Camp Pendleton. I had a wonderful time on the base hanging out with him and his buddies, who all quickly took me in like I was one of them. Seeing him and his buddies brought back memories of being in the Army back in the 1980's. In each of his buddies, I could see some of my old buddies, and it's nice to know that camaraderie in the military today is the same as it was then, as I'm sure it was when you were in the Army in the late 1960's too. Before parting with my nephew, I bought each of us a Marine Corp coin, and I told him that I'll keep mine right next to my 82nd Airborne coin.
