I was wrapping up my Saturday morning paddle to the Santa Monica Pier  
and back to Marina del Rey. I was just sitting in my 'yak watching the  
outrigger team races start.
A guy I'd seen last week passed by on his way out, standing upright on  
a long board paddling. I thought of this last week and was going to  
make this up, but I don't have to.
I asked him, "So do you have a job where you sit around all week?"
"As a matter of fact I do."
"I stand up and walk around my classroom all day when I work."


Storing kayaks?
I'm guilty of parking them in the yard. Usually not covered. My wooden  
'yak was made with West Epoxy 207 which is supposed to have UV  
protection. Apparently it does. And yes, I'm
also guilty of not varnishing it. After three years it's holding up a  
lot better than I have any right to expect. I think it's just starting  
to show signs of damage. All in all,
I have no complaints.
